Rouse Avenue Court To Hear CBI’s ‘Land For Job’ Case On January 30

The CBI alleges that during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister (2004–2009), jobs were awarded without advertisements. In exchange, beneficiaries transferred land to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family.

Land For Job

Rouse Avenue Court will hear the CBI case related to the Land for Job Scam on January 30. The CBI informed the court that it has not yet received permission to prosecute a railway officer accused in the case. Following this, the court postponed the hearing to January 30.

The CBI has already obtained permission to prosecute 30 government employees, but clearance for another official is still awaited. On October 7, the court granted bail to all nine accused on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh each and directed them to surrender their passports.

The CBI’s final charge sheet lists 78 accused, including 38 candidates and several officials. On March 6, the CBI filed its third supplementary charge sheet, naming Bhola Yadav, former secretary to Lalu Prasad Yadav, as an accused. The charge sheet claims Bhola Yadav oversaw critical operations and instructed officials.

The CBI alleges that during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister (2004–2009), jobs were awarded without advertisements. In exchange, beneficiaries transferred land to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family. Five family members, including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, and Hema Yadav, are accused.

ED Also Pursuing ‘Land For Job’ Allegations

The ED is also investigating the Land for Job Scam. It filed a supplementary charge sheet on September 18, naming Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav as accused. On March 7, the court granted bail to Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, Hema Yadav, and Hridayananda Chaudhary.

The ED alleges Lalu Prasad Yadav used his position as Railway Minister to acquire land in exchange for jobs in the Railways. Both agencies continue to probe the allegations against the accused.
