Maharashtra Cyber Cell Denies Samay Raina’s Plea For Video Conferencing In ‘India’s Got Latent’ Row

Maharashtra Cyber Cell has rejected YouTuber Samay Raina’s plea to record his statement via video conferencing in connection with the ongoing controversy surrounding the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. Raina, who is currently in the US, requested permission to provide his statement remotely as he won’t be able to return before March 17 due to prior commitments.

The Cyber Cell insisted that Raina appear in person to record his statement on February 18.

Controversy And Backlash

The controversy erupted after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made inappropriate comments during an episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’, leading to widespread backlash.

Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant an explicit question, triggering a formal complaint against him, Raina, and others associated with the show.

Raina later took to Instagram to clarify that he had removed all videos related to the show from his channel and emphasized his intent to entertain, not offend. He also confirmed his full cooperation with authorities.

“Everything that has been happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you,” Samay wrote on his Instagram Story.

Legal Developments And FIRs

In addition to the Cyber Cell matter, Samay Raina and others involved in the controversy, including Ranveer Allahbadia, approached the Supreme Court seeking to consolidate multiple FIRs filed against them.

The authorities in Maharashtra and Assam registered FIRs, alleging obscenity and vulgar discussions on the show.
