The Karnataka government has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the bail granted to film actor Darshan in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case. Alongside Darshan, the High Court also granted bail to his friend Pavitra Gowda and seven other accused individuals involved in the case.
Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old auto driver, found dead on a flyover in Bengaluru in June 2024. Police investigations revealed that Renuka was a fan of Darshan and had been allegedly harassing Darshan’s female friend, Pavitra Gowda. It is believe that Darshan, anger by Renuka’s actions, orchestrate the murder through a third party, Dinesh, who reportedly kidnap Renuka before his eventual killing.
Denial Of Allegations By Victim’s Wife
Renuka’s wife has strongly denied the allegations, claiming that even if Renuka had indeed harassed Gowda, there was no justification for his murder. She insist that Renuka should have been warned, not killed. Despite this defense, the police continued their investigation and uncovered key details about the crime.

Further investigation revealed that Darshan had allegedly paid a sum of Rs 30 lakh to the other accused to carry out the murder, with an advance payment of Rs 5 lakh. The police filed a charge sheet containing over 4,000 pages, followed by a supplementary charge sheet of 1,300 pages. These documents included more than 40 pieces of evidence, over 30 witness testimonies, and other technical investigation materials, such as FSL reports.
The case has sparked significant public attention, and the Karnataka government is now seeking to have the High Court’s decision overturned. As the investigation and legal proceedings continue, the Supreme Court’s decision on the bail will play a crucial role in the case’s development.
