Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebration marking the 100th birth anniversary of Acharya Shri Vidyanand Ji Maharaj on Saturday, 29 June, in New Delhi.
The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Bhagwan Mahaveer Ahimsa Bharti Trust, will host the event at Vigyan Bhawan, starting at 9 AM.
The Prime Minister will formally launch the centenary events at approximately 11 AM and will address the gathering during the ceremony.
The event will also be attended by Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rashtrasant Paramparacharya Shri 108 Pragyasagar Ji Muniraj.
The commemoration seeks to celebrate the remarkable life and contributions of Acharya Vidyanand Ji Maharaj, a distinguished Jain Acharya, scholar, philosopher, and social reformer.
Widely admired for his scholarship and inclusive spiritual teachings, Acharya Vidyanand Ji devoted his life to promoting Jain values, classical languages, and community service.
He authored over 50 scholarly books on Jain ethics and philosophy, earning immense respect in religious and academic circles.
His tireless work included reviving and restoring numerous ancient Jain temples across India, preserving a rich spiritual heritage for future generations.
Acharya Vidyanand Ji played a key role in advancing education in classical Indian languages, especially Prakrit and Sanskrit.
His commitment to ethical living, non-violence, and social harmony helped bring spiritual philosophy closer to the masses.
His teachings continue to influence generations seeking peace and moral clarity.
Prime Minister Modi’s participation in the event is a tribute to the Acharya’s enduring influence in shaping India’s spiritual and intellectual traditions.
The centenary programme will also include a series of cultural, spiritual, literary, and educational events across the country throughout the year.
