The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Delhi Police seeking a response to the bail plea filed by Naresh Balian, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Uttam Nagar, who was arrested in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
The court will hear the matter again on January 23. Balian had approached the Delhi High Court seeking bail after the Rouse Avenue Court rejected his initial bail application. He was arrested by Delhi Police on December 4 in connection with the MCOCA case.
Balian had earlier been arrested on November 30 in a case involving extortion. However, after securing bail in that matter, Delhi Police re-arrested him under MCOCA.
