Prayagraj witnessed a landmark moment in India’s judicial digitisation journey as Chief Justice Arun Bhansali inaugurated the state-of-the-art e-AHCR Board Room at the SUVAAS Cell of the Allahabad High Court on Friday. The event underlined the court’s aggressive push towards transparency, accessibility, and technology-driven justice delivery.
Held under the aegis of the AI-Assisted Legal Translation Advisory, e-AHCR and ILR Committee, the inauguration took place in the distinguished presence of Justice Ajit Kumar, Chairman of the Committee, along with Justices Vikram D Chauhan and Jitendra Kumar Sinha.
Senior judicial officers, editors, advocates, and SUVAAS Cell officials attended the ceremony, reflecting strong institutional support for the initiative.
Justice Ajit Kumar announced a major milestone during the event, confirming that the translation of all reportable judgments from 2010 to October 2025 now stands completed.
He revealed that the SUVAAS Cell has already begun translating nine categories of non-reportable judgments, with a clear roadmap in place.
Marking the Allahabad High Court’s upcoming 160th foundation anniversary on March 17, 2026, he assured that translation of all non-reportable final orders and judgments would commence by then.
Highlighting the scale of achievement, Justice Kumar stated that the SUVAAS Cell has translated over 50,000 High Court judgments in less than two years, a figure surpassing the combined output of all other High Courts during the same period.
He credited meticulous planning, AI-assisted tools, and committed editorial oversight for maintaining the Allahabad High Court’s number-one position nationally in legal translation.
Justice Meets Technology Vision
Justice Vikram D Chauhan delivered a vote of thanks, praising the initiative as a ‘defining leap’ towards judicial inclusivity. He noted that the effort preserves legal heritage while ensuring citizens, lawyers, and researchers can access judgments without language barriers.
Chief Justice Bhansali congratulated the SUVAAS Cell and the Editorial Board, commending Justice Ajit Kumar and committee members for their exemplary leadership.
He stressed that technology must serve justice, not complicate it, and described SUVAAS as a model other courts can replicate.
Adding to the occasion’s significance, the Chief Justice performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony, unveiled the e-AHCR logo, and launched the third edition of the e-magazine ‘Nyayabha-Nyaya Ki Kiran.’
The court also showcased its unique initiative of publishing e-booklets on landmark and historically significant cases, a distinction no other High Court currently holds.
The defining moment came when the Chief Justice uploaded the 50,000th translated judgment, symbolising the court’s leadership in judicial transparency.
All attending judges followed suit by uploading translated judgments, reinforcing a collective institutional commitment.
With AI-driven translation, digital dissemination, and record-breaking output, the Allahabad High Court has positioned itself at the forefront of India’s judicial reform narrative.
