High Court takes suo motu cognizance of rats in government hospital

The court said that the problem of rats in the hospital and it has been told to what extent rats destroy the medicines and other items kept in the hospital. Are causing harm.

The High Court has  taken suo motu cognizance of the news published  on Swarooprani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj, “Rats are drinking glucose, eating multi vitamins in SRN Hospital”.

A bench comprising  Acting Chief Mr Justice MK Gupta and Justice Kshitij Shailendra heard the case. Along with this, a reply was sought from the hospital. The court has fixed February 12 as the next hearing date in this case.

The court further  asked the Chief Superintendent of Swarooprani Nehru Hospital (SRN) what steps have been taken to stop the breeding of rats in and around the hospital.

On the media report regarding the problem of rats in SRN Hospital, the court said that it has underlined the problem of rats in the hospital and it has been told to what extent the rats are damaging the medicines and other items kept in the hospital.

In this report, the statement of Chief Superintendent Dr. Ajay Saxena has also been cited, in which he has admitted that despite best efforts, this problem still persists. Options are being found to deal with this.
