Uttar Pradesh made history on Wednesday by planting 37,21,40,925 saplings in a single day under the Plantation Mega Campaign 2025. The drive, part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” initiative, exceeded the set target of 37 crore by over 21 lakh saplings by 6:06 PM.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the campaign in Ayodhya, planting banyan, neem, and peepal trees at Triveni Vatika along the Saryu River. He dedicated the trees to Lord Shri Ram, Mother Earth, and his own mother. Known for his environmental commitment, CM Yogi called the plantation drive a reflection of the state’s gratitude towards nature.
The campaign covered vast stretches including forest lands, defence and railway zones, village panchayats, expressways, canals, healthcare facilities, schools, industrial complexes, and private lands. It saw mass participation from students, citizens, farmers, officials, and volunteers.
The Forest Department used an Android-based Plantation Monitoring System to track the campaign in real time. At CM Yogi’s direction, the state moved away from outdated paper-based efforts to tech-driven, transparent monitoring with geo-tagging.
After inaugurating the Harishankari Vatika in Azamgarh and participating in Gorakhpur’s plantation drive, CM Yogi expressed pride in the achievement. “These are not just numbers; they reflect our collective duty towards the environment,” he said.
He thanked every participant and credited the success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. “This record under Plantation Mega Campaign 2025 is not only Uttar Pradesh’s achievement but also India’s environmental triumph,” the Chief Minister stated.
