As preparations intensify for the grand Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is upgrading the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) in Prayagraj.
Originally established for the 2019 Kumbh Mela, the center is being modernized to handle the massive scale of the upcoming event, which will likely attract a record 45 crore devotees.
During his recent visit to Prayagraj, CM Yogi inspected the ongoing upgrades to the ICCC and emphasized the importance of completing the work on schedule.
With Maha Kumbh 2025 set to be the largest human gathering globally, the ICCC will play a pivotal role in managing crowd control, parking, disaster response, and surveillance, ensuring safety and order throughout the event.
ICCC Inaugurated By PM Modi In 2019
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ICCC in 2019, originally designed to organize the Kumbh Mela using cutting-edge technology.
For Maha Kumbh 2025, the Prayagraj Mela Authority and Prayagraj Smart City are enhancing the center with additional high-tech infrastructure.
This includes the installation of 1,650 new CCTV cameras, 24 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, 40 Variable Message Display (VMD) boards, and 100 smart parking systems.
AI-powered components will assist in crowd management and vehicle monitoring, further improving the efficiency of the event’s logistics.
In addition to surveillance, the upgrades will also bolster communication systems.
The complaint resolution call center will expand with 20 additional seats, and coverage will extend to critical areas, including 9 railway stations, through AI-integrated CCTV cameras.
The ICCC will manage operations from multiple locations, including the Mela, MCR Center, Arail, and Jhunsi Viewing Centers.
As part of the preparations, the 1920 helpline will become operational starting 1 December, providing a vital resource for public queries and concerns during the lead-up to the event.
This ambitious upgradation of the ICCC reflects the state’s commitment to integrating modern technology with the spiritual and cultural significance of Maha Kumbh, ensuring a safe, efficient, and seamless experience for millions of devotees.
