Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the victims injured in Tuesday’s tragic stampede in Hathras, expressing deep concern for their well-being.
He personally inquired about their health and directed officials to ensure they received the best possible medical care.
Adityanath also extended his condolences to the families affected by the incident.
During a meeting with senior officials at the police lines, the Chief Minister gathered detailed information about the incident and reviewed the actions taken in response.
He emphasized that those responsible for the tragedy must face consequences without exception.
Accompanied by state BJP president Bhupendra Chaudhary, Minister Sandeep Singh, and other officials, Adityanath underscored the need for a thorough investigation into the events surrounding the stampede.
The tragic incident occurred during an event organized by self-styled godman Bhole Baba, also known as Narayan Saakar Hari, at Fulrai village under the Sikandrarau police station area.
The stampede claimed more than 120 lives and left over 25 people injured.
A viral video on social media captured the godman leaving the venue in his car, with hundreds of devotees seen chasing after his vehicle to gather dust as a symbolic gesture of blessings.
According to a report submitted by the sub-divisional magistrate, the incident was exacerbated by the actions of the godman’s sewadars, who allegedly attempted to forcefully control the crowd, leading to the stampede.
The report further revealed that the number of attendees far exceeded the permitted limit by threefold.
The Chief Minister pledged to take stringent action against those responsible for the lapses that caused the unfortunate loss of lives.
