With CAA In Stake BJP And TMC In Tussle Over Matua Votes

The CAA is yet to be implemented in the nation. This delay of implementation has irked the Matua communities and they have taken part in the protest of Abhishek Banerjee which is taking place in front of Raj Bhavan.

Incidentally, the ruling party in West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) is against the implementation of CAA. Both the BJP and the TMC are trying to  impress the Matua communities who have significant votebank in West Bengal particularly in the North 24 Parganas district. However, these two political outfits are at loggerheads over the implementation of CAA.

With this development, the state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Sukanta Majumdar is all set to visit Thakurnagar on Monday. However, Majumdar , has described the visit as a courtesy one. But sources close to the saffron outfit has revealed that political discussions might take place in that meeting.

Matua and BJP leader Subrata Thakur has confirmed his availability in the meeting whereas the confirmation of the presence of Shantanu Thakur, another Matua leader and Union Minister is yet to be obtained.
