Will Return After Results: PM Modi Signals Confidence In Bengal Polls

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced strong confidence in the electoral prospects of the Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal, stating that he sees it as his duty to serve the people of the state.

Addressing a campaign gathering in Jagatdal, the Prime Minister said the upcoming Assembly election carries wider significance, linking it to the broader development of eastern India. He noted that regions such as Bihar, Bengal and Odisha together play a key role in national progress, and any imbalance among them affects overall growth.

PM Modi described the election as a turning point and indicated that the response from voters during his campaign tour had been encouraging. He further added that he expects to return to the state after the results to witness the formation of a new government.

Focusing on economic concerns, the Prime Minister highlighted unemployment and the closure or relocation of industries as major challenges in the state. He said that increased investment and industrial activity would be prioritised if his party comes to power, including plans to expand manufacturing initiatives around Kolkata.

PM Modi also criticised the ruling All India Trinamool Congress, alleging a lack of long-term planning for development. According to him, issues such as governance, employment opportunities and public safety remain key concerns among residents.

The rally marked one of the final stages of campaigning, with political parties intensifying outreach efforts ahead of polling in the state.
