Wet Spell in northwest India
Amid the influence of a western disturbance, light to moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall or snowfall is expected over the Western Himalayan region, and light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rains may lash Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh on January 29 and 30. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a wet spell has been predicted for the national capital Delhi and other northwest Indian regions.
Moreover, the weather report said that light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over East Uttar Pradesh on January 29 and 30 and over Rajasthan on January 28 and 39. Isolated light rainfall is also possible over Delhi on January 29.

Heavy rains or snow may pelt parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
Widespread rainfall or snowfall with thunderstorms may lash Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
Fairly widespread rains or snow with thunderstorms are likely over Punjab.
Scattered showers with thunderstorms may occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, West Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
Isolated rainfall over East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Fairly widespread rains accompanied by thunderstorms are expected over West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and East Rajasthan.
Dense fog is possible at isolated places over North India, Central India and East India in the morning hours.
Air quality is likely to be very poor in North India, Central India and East India. Poor over Northeast India, West India and South India.
On January 29 and 30, the western Himalayan region may also experience a significant wet spell. Hailstorms are also very likely to affect Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh.
Moreover, northwest India is likely to experience strong surface winds of 20 to 30 mph in the next 2 days.
The IMD said, “A Western Disturbance seen as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies runs along Long. 56°E to the north of Lat. 22°N. it is very likely to move eastwards and high moisture feeding from the Arabian Sea is very likely on 29th & 30th January 2023.”
