Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said discussions about West Bengal featured prominently during his recent visit to five foreign countries, linking the observation to the growing attention being received by the BJP’s electoral performance.

Addressing a public gathering in Surat after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 18,800 crore, the Prime Minister referred to recent elections in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry while highlighting the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s electoral successes.

“The recent elections in Bengal, you may be wondering why I suddenly mentioned Bengal. But during my recent visit to five countries, I noticed that Bengal was being discussed everywhere,” he said.

According to PM Modi, the BJP and NDA received a ‘massive mandate’ in elections held in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry. He also pointed to the party’s performance in local body polls across the country.

“In panchayat and municipal corporation elections being held across the country, the BJP is also securing victories,” he said.

The Prime Minister said recent electoral outcomes reflected public support for development-oriented governance and political stability. He argued that voters were increasingly rejecting uncertainty and backing governments focused on delivery and long-term growth.

“Every such election conveys only one message. The country does not like anarchy, uncertainty, and pessimism,” he said.

PM Modi also linked the results to a broader sense of optimism among citizens.

“India has moved far beyond negativity. This is a nation of boundless optimism and extraordinary aspirations,” he noted.

The Prime Minister said the country’s progress towards becoming a developed nation would be driven by the determination of its people.

“When the people of a nation are determined, every national goal can be achieved. That is India’s strength,” he asserted.
