Delhi: Web Designer Arrested For Committing Theft While Deboarding Flight

According to Police, “A suspicious person was zeroed in, as he was seen carrying the hand baggage of the complainant in the CCTV footage. The identity of the accused person was established as Hari Garg”.

A 37- year-old web designer has been arrested for committing theft of hand baggage from a cabin while deboarding a flight on Thursday.

The accused, named Hari Garg, is a graduate and has done a web designing course in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He also runs a restaurant business in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

E-FIR was registered on the complaint of Mr. Surender. In his complaint, he said, “He alleged that he was traveling from Mumbai to Delhi by flight No. 6E 2123, and on reaching Delhi some unknown passenger on the same flight took his hand baggage from the cabin on the flight”.

The FIR has been registered to vide E-FIR No. 52/2023 Dated 07/02/2023 U/s 379 IPC, PS IGI Airport, Delhi.

A team comprising IO/SI Prashant and HC Birju Singh No-416/A was constituted under the leadership of Insp. Yashpal Singh, SHO/IGI Airport, and overall supervision of ACP/IGIA Virender Mor to recover the stolen articles and arrest the accused person.

During the investigation, the manifest of the flight was collected and CCTV footage of the terminals was thoroughly examined.

Statement from police

According to Police, “A suspicious person was zeroed in, as he was seen carrying the hand baggage of the complainant in the CCTV footage. The identity of the accused person was established as Hari Garg”.

Police said, “Hari Garg was asked to join the investigation of the case but he refused for the same and fled away from his residence. The team through electronic surveillance minutely scrutinized his CDRs and IP details of his Whatsapp number and apprehended the accused from Jodhpur Rajasthan”.

“The accused was interrogated and subsequently arrested in the present case. On sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he took the handbag of another passenger intentionally while deboarding and had taken the baggage to Jodhpur where-in he had dumped the complainant’s passport and 6 credit and debit plastic cards on 07.02.2023″ they added.

Police further said,” He had planned to use the remaining articles for his personal use. On sustained interrogation, the remaining articles including iPhone and laptop were recovered at the instance of the accused person from his home”.

So far, iPhone 14 Pro with charger, HP laptop with charger, 350 US Dollars, and 200 Canadian Dollars have been recovered from the accused.
