The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a significant protest on Thursday, dubbed ‘Swasthya Bhavan Gherao,’ to condemn the recent rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The tragic incident, which occurred earlier this month, has sparked outrage and mobilized the party into action.

State BJP officials are working intensively to ensure the success of the protest, with a high level of coordination and preparation evident.

Bengal BJP President and Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar is overseeing the arrangements personally.

“We are leveraging every available resource to fortify our movement on this critical issue,” Majumdar stated on Wednesday, emphasizing the party’s commitment to the cause.

The central BJP leadership has instructed the state unit to vigorously pursue the protest, particularly in light of the perceived weaknesses of the state government and the ruling Trinamool Congress on this matter.

In addition to the ‘Swasthya Bhavan Gherao’ protest, the BJP has initiated a five-day demonstration at the Shyambazar five-point crossing, situated near the RG Kar Medical College.

This demonstration, which began on Wednesday following Calcutta High Court approval, is part of the party’s broader strategy to draw attention to the case.

During a speech at the Shyambazar protest, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari accused RG Kar Medical College of harboring serious irregularities, including drug rackets and the black market for medicines.

Adhikari alleged that the deceased doctor had uncovered these issues, which he claims led to her brutal murder.

He further asserted that attempts were made to tamper with evidence, including the destruction of the duty roster from the night of the crime.
