On Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Uttar Pradesh’s first-ever night safari will be launched in Lucknow by December 2026.
The safari, covering an area of 900 acres, will likely become a major wildlife tourism destination, offering an exciting experience for nature lovers.
During a high-level meeting held at his official residence, CM Adityanath revealed that the safari will include a variety of features such as a cafeteria, a 7D theatre, an auditorium, and ample parking space.
He emphasized that this ambitious project will attract both national and international tourists, positioning Lucknow as a key location for wildlife tourism.
CM Adityanath stated, “Lucknow’s night safari would become a new destination for nature lovers globally.”
He further mentioned that the project has already received approval from the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) of New Delhi, which is a crucial step for its development.
After reviewing the detailed proposal for the Kukrail Night Safari and Zoo, the Chief Minister instructed officials to complete both the safari and zoo by June 2026.
The official statement reveals that the project developers will implement the project in phases, focusing on creating a sustainable and eco-friendly model for the safari’s operations.
CM Adityanath highlighted the importance of greenery in the project and directed officials to develop 72% of the safari area with natural vegetation.
He also called for the integration of solar energy solutions to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.
Themed Zones & Wildlife Attractions
The night safari will feature distinct themed zones, including the Indian Walking Trail, Indian Wetland, Arid India, and African Wetland, with each section showcasing various species of wildlife.
Visitors will be able to explore the safari through a 5.5 km tramway or along a 1.92 km walking path, offering a unique wildlife experience after dark.
Among the major attractions of the night safari will be the Asiatic Lion, Bengal Tiger, Gharial, Hyena, Leopard, Flying Squirrel, and more.
In addition, the safari will feature a world-class wildlife hospital and rescue center, aimed at providing top-notch care for animals.
The zoo, to be located in the Kukrail forest area, will include 63 enclosures, housing species like Sarus Cranes, Swamp Deer, African Lions, South African Giraffes, and Chimpanzees.
The zoo will also include themed areas such as the African Savannah and Incredible India.
In line with the Chief Minister’s vision to make Uttar Pradesh a global tourist destination, the project will also connected to other prominent tourist sites in Lucknow.
CM Adityanath expressed confidence that the project will draw both domestic and foreign tourists, boosting the local economy.
The Chief Minister also directed the immediate commencement of the process to identify and quarantine the animals, with plans to establish essential facilities, including a quarantine centre, veterinary hospital, post-operation units, and an operation theatre.
Additionally, an ‘Adventure Zone’ will be developed, featuring attractions such as a zip line, Burma bridge, pedal boats, and sky roller rides, offering a mix of adventure and family-friendly activities.
