The grand Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj has become a massive gathering of faith, with an ever-growing crowd of devotees and tourists flocking to the sacred Triveni Sangam, prompting Uttar Pradesh Roadways to significantly increase its services for hassle-free travel.
A large fleet of roadways buses is operating continuously as part of the government’s initiative, ensuring that devotees can reach their destinations with ease and convenience.
As of Thursday, over 10 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh.
The Yogi government remains fully committed to providing safe and efficient transportation for these pilgrims, with UP Roadways playing a key role.
MK Trivedi, Regional Manager of Prayagraj Region, UP Roadways, shared that roadways services have transported 7,13,935 passengers during the two major snan parv of Maha Kumbh.
“On the first snan parv, Paush Purnima, Roadways provided services to 3,50,935 passengers, deploying 3,018 buses. For Makar Sankranti, the number of passengers increased, requiring the deployment of additional buses. On this occasion, 3,113 buses served 3,63,010 passengers,” he stated.
The Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan, the largest bathing festival of the Maha Kumbh, presents a significant challenge for both the administration and UP Roadways.
It is estimated that over 10 crore devotees will take a holy dip during this event.
Among them, around 15 to 20 lakh people will likely travel via roadways.
In preparation, UP Roadways is strategically planning and enhancing its services to ensure smooth and organized transportation for these pilgrims.
