A female assistant prosecution officer from Uttar Pradesh was reportedly attacked and robbed while traveling on a Shatabdi Express bound for New Delhi, officials stated on Monday.
The incident occurred on March 28 around 10 pm, as the Lucknow Jn. According to the FIR, Swarn Shatabdi Express approached Shivaji Bridge Railway Station in New Delhi.
In her complaint to the police, Swati Mourya described the assailant entering her coach, C-4, and attempting to snatch her handbag. When she resisted, he forcefully pushed and assaulted her, resulting in an injury to her left hand. Subsequently, the assailant grabbed her bag and fled from the moving train. Mourya asserted her ability to identify the perpetrator.

The FIR outlined the loss incurred by Swati Mourya, which included ₹15,000 in cash, as well as various identification cards such as PAN, Aadhar, driving license, and her prosecution identity card issued by the Uttar Pradesh government. Additionally, two ATM cards, a mobile phone, four diamond rings, two gold bangles, and two wristwatches were among the stolen items.
Upon receiving the complaint at 11:20 pm, the Government Railway Police, New Delhi initiated an investigation. A senior police officer confirmed the registration of an FIR under sections 356 (assault or criminal force in an attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) and 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc.) of the IPC, with assurances of imminent arrest of the accused.
