UP Elects 13 New MLCs Unopposed, 10 NDA 3 SP Candidates Elected Unopposed

Former ministers Mahendra Singh and Ashok Katariya, Vijay Bahadur Pathak (state BJP vice-president), Santosh Singh, Mohit Beniwal, Ram Tirath Singhal (former mayor of Jhansi), and Dharmendra Singh are among the seven BJP candidates who have won elections.

Lucknow: Thirteen candidates were elected uncontested to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council in biennial elections on Thursday, including ten from the NDA and three from the Samajwadi Party. Thursday was the deadline for the withdrawal of nomination papers.

B B Dubey, special secretary to the UP Vidhan Sabha, stated that elected candidates were also issued with certificates.

Former ministers Mahendra Singh and Ashok Katariya, Vijay Bahadur Pathak (state BJP vice-president), Santosh Singh, Mohit Beniwal, Ram Tirath Singhal (former mayor of Jhansi), and Dharmendra Singh are among the seven BJP candidates who have won elections.

Apart from these, three NDA partners’ candidates were declared elected: Ashish Patel of Apna Dal (S), Yogesh Chaudhary of Rashtriya Lok Dal, and Vichhelal of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP).

SP candidates elected to the UP Legislative Council included senior party leader Balram Yadav, former MLA Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali, and Kiran Pal Kashyap. The tenure of 13 council members will finish in May of this year.
