Union Minister of State for Home: No Proposal Under Consideration Through Government For Creation Of An Entirely New State

Nityanand Rai, Union Minister of State for Home said on Tuesday that the Centre has no proposals under consideration for state bifurcation, despite receiving requests from various individuals and organizations on a regular basis.

The statement by the Union Minister of State for Home came in response to a question from Tamil Nadu MPs T R Paarivendhar and S Ramalingam in the Lok Sabha about whether the Central government has any plans to divide any state in the country, including Tamil Nadu.

“The government receives proposals/requests for the formation of new states from various organizations. However, no proposal for the formation of a new state is currently being considered by the government”, the Minister stated.

Union Minister Nityanand Rai further said, “The formation of a new state has far-reaching consequences and has a direct impact on our country’s federal polity”.
