Union Minister Anurag Thakur Urges Women Entrepreneurs to Embrace Digital Technology for Economic Empowerment

During the 40th Annual Session of the FICCI Ladies Organisation, Union Minister Anurag Thakur emphasized the pivotal role of digital technology in empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering resilience in small businesses.

Thakur underscored the significance of financial inclusion and digitalization in advancing the economic empowerment of women. He reiterated the government’s commitment to amplifying women’s voices and addressing their concerns to ensure their active participation in economic development.

Highlighting India’s burgeoning start-up ecosystem, Thakur noted that the country boasts the third-largest number of startups globally, with 1.2 lakh start-ups and 110 Unicorns. He emphasized that women’s contributions would be instrumental as India aims to ascend to the position of the world’s third-largest economy within the next three years.

Thakur advocated for the adoption of advanced technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) by women entrepreneurs, citing them as essential tools for driving growth in small businesses and enhancing their resilience. Recognizing the vital role of small entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas, Thakur emphasized their significance as the backbone of India’s economy. He highlighted their intrinsic role in realizing India’s ambitious goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy by 2030.
