The Union Cabinet convened on Wednesday to commemorate the remarkable accomplishment of India’s lunar endeavour, Chandrayaan-3. The Cabinet hailed this achievement as a beacon of India’s progress and elevation on the global platform.
In a resolution, the Cabinet extended congratulations to the diligent scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for their monumental feat, as well as to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visionary guidance.
The resolution emphasized that accomplishing a precise lunar landing is an extraordinary feat in itself. The successful landing in the demanding conditions near the Moon’s South Pole attests to the resilience of our scientists, who have been relentlessly pushing the boundaries of human knowledge for centuries.
In a historic moment, the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft gently touched down in the vicinity of the Moon’s South Pole on August 23. This achievement positions India as the first country to conquer the challenging South Pole region and the fourth nation to achieve a successful moon landing, following the United States, Russia, and China
Acknowledging the wealth of insights conveyed by the Pragyan rover from the lunar surface, the Union Cabinet noted that this information will not only enhance our understanding but also pave the way for groundbreaking revelations into the lunar mysteries and beyond.
The Cabinet also applauded Prime Minister Modi for his visionary leadership and steadfast dedication to India’s space program in the pursuit of human welfare and scientific advancement. The resolution highlighted that the Prime Minister’s unwavering faith in the capabilities of scientists and his consistent encouragement have always fortified their determination.
Speaking to the media post the Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Anurag Thakur remarked, “The Cabinet takes immense pride in the involvement of our women scientists in the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission. This accomplishment will undoubtedly inspire the forthcoming generations of female scientists.”
Furthermore, the Cabinet warmly welcomed the proposal to designate August 23 as ‘National Space Day’ and to christen two regions on the moon Tiranga Point and ShivShakti Point.
