During the electoral bonds controversy, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the BJP, branding it the ‘Bhrasht Janata Party’. His remarks follow allegations from various opposition factions, including Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress, accusing the BJP of receiving funds through electoral bonds via the alleged misuse of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against industrialists and businesspeople.

“It has come to light that the BJP is the epitome of corruption. It is indeed the ‘Bhrasht Janata Party’. Their true colors have been laid bare before the people,” stated Thackeray on Sunday, as cited by news agency PTI. He further pointed out that several leaders previously accused of corruption had recently joined the BJP, questioning the party’s integrity by asking, “Who accused Praful Patel? Who was implicated in the Adarsh scam? Who faced allegations from Janardhan Reddy and Naveen Jindal?”

Thackeray also aimed Prime Minister Modi over the BJP’s ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ (Modi’s Family) campaign. “During my tenure as chief minister amidst the Covid crisis, I pledged that ‘my family, my responsibility’. In your ‘family’, it seems there’s only you and the chair,” remarked Thackeray, implying a lack of accountability within the BJP’s leadership.
