Travel + Leisure released its annual “world’s Best Awards” survey 2024 with Indian city Udaipur ranked world’s second best city. Among the cities in Asia region the ‘City of Lakes’ is named the best city.

San Miguel de Allende in Mexico ranked first, followed by Udaipur in second and Kyoto in Japan in third in the Travel + Leisure Readers’ Awards list of the 25 best cities in the world.

Udaipur’s position as the second-best city in the world and the best city in Asia has delighted Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, Kumari said that Udaipur’s tradition, art, culture, and food are all reasons for this honor. Travelers from all over the world are drawn to the area by the locals’ respect for one another. She continued by saying that Rajasthan has become one of the most popular and best tourist destinations in the world, leaving visitors with priceless memories, thanks to the combined efforts of state government policies and all stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore said that Rajasthan tourism is reaching unprecedented levels of success under the direction of Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari. She pointed out that at the start of this year, there was a noticeable rise in both local and foreign visitors, suggesting that Rajasthan is a state that attracts many tourists.

The list has been compiled based on the “World’s Best Awards” survey, in which T+L readers shared their opinions on the world’s top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more.

Readers were asked to rate cities—either excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor—based on a number of criteria, including sights/landmarks, culture, food, friendliness, shopping, and value.

Mexico emerged as the most favoured country in the world, with five cities earning a place in the index. Meanwhile, Oaxaca in southern Mexico held onto the top spot for a second year.
