Rujira Narula Banerjee, wife of Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhisekh Banerjee, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connections with cash for jobs scam. She is to appear in the ED office at Salt Lake (located on the outskirts of Calcutta) CGO complex sometime next week.

It is to be noted that Abhisekh’s parents, Lata and Amit Banerjee, were also summoned for questioning by the same investigating agency earlier this week. Parents of TMC national general secretary were summoned in their capacity as directors of Leaps and Bounds, a corporate outfit associated with this scam.
Abhisekh, himself, was also summoned on Tuesday by ED but he didn’t turn up saying that he has other political commitments. However, he didn’t communicated anything to ED in writing. The only way he responded was through his Twitter handle.

The opposition BJP, instantly taking up the matter said tough times awaiting for the Chief Minister Mamata and her family. “Entire Banerjee family is indulged in that Leaps and Bounds company and it has been proved that this very company is involved in the cash for jobs scam and hence, none will be spared from spending their day behind bars,” said Sukanta Majumdar, state president, BJP.
