Prayagraj:  The anticipatory bail application of Atiq Ahmed’s nephew Zaka Ahmed has been rejected by the District Court. In the month of July, a first information report was lodged against Jaka at Puramufti police station on charges of extortion threat.

District Judge Santosh Kumar Rai, on Thursday after listening to the arguments of accused Jaka’s lawyer and District Government Advocate Criminal Gulab Chandra Agrahari, after reviewing the documents presented by the police,  rejected the anticipatory bail application.

According  to prosecution Sabir Hussain, a property dealer living in Jafri Colony, located on 60 feet road under Dhoomanganj police area, filed a complaint under sections  147, 148, 323 of IPC against Atiq Ahmed’s sister Shaheen, brother-in-law Mohammad Ahmed and nephew Jaka, resident of Mariadih village, at Puramufti police station on July 28. A case was registered under sections 504, 506, 386 and 392.

Sabir  alleged that he had gone to show the land in Kalindipuram Colony to a customer, where Atiq’s nephew Jaka came and threatened him that if he wanted to do a deal here, he would have to pay Rs 10 lakh as extortion money. Jaka had also snatched away his mobile phone.

He further alleged that  when he went to Jaka’s house in Mariadih to ask for the mobile, he was beaten and threatened. Jaka, who was absconding after a case was registered in Puramufti police station on Sabir’s complaint, had filed an application for anticipatory bail to avoid arrest. However, he could not get relief from the court. Jaka’s parents were arrested
