Security forces are engaged in an encounter with terrorists in Budhal, Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials reported the clash began late Wednesday night when a search operation was underway in Kheri Mohra Lathi village and Danthal area.
The police launched the search operation after receiving intelligence about terrorists in the area. During the operation, as they established contact with the terrorists, an exchange of fire quickly took place near Kheri Mohra.
Recently, terrorists have intensified their activities across Jammu and Kashmir. The violence, initially limited to Poonch and Rajouri districts, is now spreading to previously quieter regions like the Chenab Valley, Udhampur, and Kathua. These areas were once considered free from significant militant threats.

Terrorists have started using more sophisticated weaponry, including grenades, armor-piercing bullets, and M4 assault rifles. They have also ambushed vehicles, indicating a notable escalation in their tactics. This increase in sophistication and aggression has raised concerns among the public and sparked political criticism.
Analysts point to a surge in militancy in the Pir Panjal region, which divides Kashmir Valley from Jammu. Security forces have been targeting terrorists in the mountains, where they seek cover and wait for opportunities to strike.
To address the rising threat, experts call for a comprehensive strategy. This strategy should include enhanced intelligence gathering and improved coordination among security forces. The recent surge in attacks underscores the need to reassess and strengthen the security measures to ensure regional safety and stability.
