Telangana CM Revanth Reddy resigns from Lok Sabha seat

Along with a deputy chief minister and other ministers, Mr. Reddy took the oath of office as chief minister on Thursday.

According to official sources, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy resigned from his Lok Sabha position on Friday.

They claimed that Mr. Reddy met with Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla this evening to submit his resignation. He was the Telangana representative for the Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency.

When he visited Parliament House, Manickam Tagore, the MP and party whip, went with him.

In the recently held assembly elections, Mr. Reddy was chosen as an MLA representing the Kodangal assembly constituency.

According to the sources, Mr. Reddy is expected to meet with K C Venugopal, the party’s general secretary, to discuss matters pertaining to the first Telangana assembly session, in addition to carrying out the six promises made by the party during the election campaign. Tonight, he’ll be going back to Hyderabad.

Top Congress leaders, including former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah, and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge attended his swearing ceremony.
