On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the recent attack in Fujairah that left three Indian citizens injured, describing the targeting of civilians and infrastructure as unacceptable.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable.”

“India stands in firm solidarity with the UAE and reiterates its support for the peaceful resolution of all issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Ensuring safe and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is vital for enduring regional peace, stability and global energy security,” the post further read.

The remarks follow Monday’s incident in which three Indian nationals were hurt.

The Embassy of India in the UAE said it is working with local authorities to ensure proper treatment and assistance for those affected.

The UAE has attributed the attack to Iran, stating that missile and drone strikes hit civilian areas.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UAE) condemned the action as a serious breach of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Officials in the UAE described the incident as a direct threat to the country’s security and territorial integrity, adding that they reserve the right to respond within the framework of international law. They also called for an immediate halt to hostilities, holding Iran responsible for the attack and its consequences.

India, meanwhile, reiterated its position in favour of diplomacy, signalling concern over the broader implications of rising tensions in the region.
