Justice Nath made these remarks during a seminar at the inauguration of the newly constructed administrative building of the UP Bar Council in Prayagraj.
Justice Vikram Nath inaugurated the new building. Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Bar Council of India President Manan Kumar Mishra attended as special guests. The seminar focused on professional ethics and the role of advocates in society. UP Bar Council President Shiv Kishore Gaur presided over the event.
Advice on Judicial Integrity
Justice Nath advised advocates against shortcuts, emphasizing honesty in judicial work. He also encouraged the Bar Council to ensure a safe environment for women. He noted the increasing number of women in the judicial field and shared personal experiences.
Bar Council’s Demands and Concerns
Bar Council of India President Manan Kumar Mishra urged the District Bar Association to avoid strikes. He outlined two key demands from the government: the Advocate Protection Act and implementation of insurance and medical claims for lawyers. Mishra indicated that these measures are forthcoming. He also criticized the proliferation of substandard law colleges, warning that it could further degrade the quality of the legal profession.
