Sunita Kejriwal Under Fire for Sharing Delhi CM’s Court Proceedings Online

A complaint has been lodged by a lawyer against Sunita Kejriwal and others with the district judge (headquarters) for allegedly sharing the court proceedings of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on social media. The incident in question occurred during Kejriwal’s appearance at the Rouse Avenue court on March 28.

Advocate Vaibhav Singh, serving as the complainant, asserts that the hearing was recorded and disseminated on social media platforms without proper concerned authorities by Sunita Kejriwal and several other political figures. Additionally, Singh has issued legal notices to social media platforms, urging them to remove any related videos concerning the court proceedings.

The complaint calls for a thorough investigation into the matter and proposes appropriate action against all individuals and political entities involved for allegedly violating the Video Conferencing Rules dated October 26, 2021, issued by the Court. These rules were implemented to standardize the procedure for utilizing video conferencing in court settings.

The named individuals in the complaint include Sunita Kejriwal, an unidentified individual operating under the handle @Akshay, Promila Gupta (Councilor, Ward 11, Timarpur), Vineeta Jain (Vice President of INC Rajasthan), and Arunesh Kumar Yadav, whose handle is @YadavArunesh. They are accused of unauthorized dissemination of video/audio recordings from the court proceedings held by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja on March 28.

It is alleged that members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and other opposition parties purposefully shared Arvind Kejriwal’s court proceedings on social media to tarnish the case’s image. The recordings of Kejriwal addressing the bench in the excise policy case were circulated on X (formerly Twitter) with the hashtag #MoneyTrailExposedByKejriwal.

The complaint contends that the widespread dissemination of the audio/video recordings hints at a deep conspiracy orchestrated by political entities to discredit the judiciary and mislead the public. The aim, it alleges, is to portray the judiciary as being under governmental influence, particularly the central government.

Singh, in his complaint, suggests that the recording of the proceedings was part of a premeditated plan, designed to sway public opinion either before or after Kejriwal’s appearance in court. Kejriwal, who serves as the Delhi CM and AAP national convener, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. His judicial custody has been extended until April 15, and he is currently held at Tihar Jail.
