Subramanian Swamy Files Petition In SC Seeking Probe Into Alleged Use Of Animal Fat In Tirupati Temple Prasad

The petition follows a similar plea filed by Hindu Sena chief Surjeet Yadav, who claimed that the discovery of fat and fish oil in the famous Tirupati Laddu has shaken the faith of millions of Hindus

Tirupati Temple Prasad

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, demanding an investigation into allegations of animal fat in the Prasad of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati. The petition seeks the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of a retired Supreme Court judge and calls for legal action against those responsible for tampering with religious faith.

The petition follows a similar plea filed by Hindu Sena chief Surjeet Yadav, who claimed that the discovery of fat and fish oil in the famous Tirupati Laddu has shaken the faith of millions of Hindus.

Call for SIT Investigation

Swamy’s petition emphasizes the need for a thorough investigation to safeguard religious sentiments. The demand for an SIT, led by a retired judge, aims to ensure transparency and accountability. The petition calls for strict legal action against individuals found guilty of tampering with the Prasad.

Earlier, Yadav’s petition had argued that those without the financial means to pursue a legal case are unable to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), making this issue of public interest.

Legal Battle in High Court

Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) lawyers presented their arguments regarding allegations made by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu concerning the Tirupati Laddu. They urged the High Court to appoint a sitting judge or a committee to investigate the claims.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court is scheduled to hear the case on September 25.
