On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi narrowly avoided an accident when a section of the dais at one of his election rallies in Bihar collapsed. Gandhi was at Paliganj, near the state capital, campaigning for Misa Bharti, the daughter of RJD president Lalu Prasad, who is running for the Patliputra Lok Sabha seat.

As Ms Bharti was leading Mr Gandhi to his seat, a portion of the temporary stage began to give way, causing him to struggle for balance. Ms. Bharti quickly reacted by grabbing Mr. Gandhi’s hand, and helping him steady himself. They reassured the concerned security personnel, who rushed to assist, that the Congress leader was unharmed, sharing smiles to alleviate the tension.
