Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the Indian-American community for its contributions across science, technology, education, public service, arts and other fields, while highlighting its continued connection with India’s cultural heritage.
In a message to the National Alliance of Indian Organisations (NAIO), PM Modi said the joint celebrations of India’s 80th Independence Day and the United States’ 250th anniversary reflected the close ties between the two democracies. He said the celebrations highlighted the shared democratic values that strengthen relations between New Delhi and Washington.
PM Modi described the bond between India and its diaspora as a source of strength for the country.
The Prime Minister praised Indian Americans for establishing a strong presence across American institutions while maintaining links with India’s rich cultural traditions. He further highlighted the role of diaspora organisations in keeping these traditions alive and fostering community spirit.
According to PM Modi, such organisations help younger generations of Indian Americans remain connected with their roots while strengthening cultural ties across generations. He acknowledged the wider contribution of the Indian-American community to the US economy, schools, healthcare system, businesses and local communities.
Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to NAIO for its commemorative programme marking India’s Independence Day in 2026 and the United States’ 250th anniversary. He said such celebrations further reflect the enduring relationship between the two countries and the important role played by the Indian diaspora in strengthening people-to-people ties.
