The Recording Academy has received Sounds of Kumbha, a musical celebration of India’s spiritual heritage, for consideration in the 68th Grammy Awards.
The album is currently on the Grammy ballot under the categories of Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance.
Although it has not yet secured an official nomination, its presence in the ‘for your consideration’ stage highlights growing global interest in music inspired by the Mahakumbh 2025, one of the world’s largest spiritual gatherings. The final nominations will be revealed on November 7, 2025.
The 12-track album brings together an impressive collaboration of international and Indian artists.
It features Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, along with Grammy winners and nominees such as Jim ‘Kimo’ West, Madi Das, Ron Korb, and Raja Kumari.
Through a fusion of traditional melodies, chants, and field recordings, Sounds of Kumbha seeks to portray the emotional and spiritual journey of pilgrims at the Mahakumbh. Each track resonates with the festival’s themes of devotion, unity, and transcendence.
More than a project, Sounds of Kumbha is a cultural offering, bridging sacred traditions with global sounds.
As anticipation builds for the Grammy nominations, the album stands as a symbol of how Indian spirituality continues to inspire world music on the grandest stage.
