Doctors at VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital have confirmed that activist Sonam Wangchuk is currently in a stable condition. They said that some of his blood parameters remain slightly abnormal following his prolonged fast, making continuous medical supervision necessary.
According to the latest medical bulletin, Wangchuk is receiving comprehensive treatment under the care of specialists from multiple disciplines.
Although his vital signs are stable, doctors believe the physical impact of his 21-day hunger strike requires sustained medical attention and regular assessment.
Medical experts from Safdarjung Hospital and AIIMS, New Delhi, have advised that he remain under round-the-clock observation so that any complications resulting from prolonged fasting can be identified and treated immediately.
Doctors admitted Sonam Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday after his health deteriorated during his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. His admission followed directions issued by the Delhi High Court and recommendations made by the attending medical team.
Hospital officials said they are closely tracking his overall clinical condition, including regular checks of his blood parameters, while providing all necessary medical treatment.
Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, has urged the hospital administration to complete his discharge formalities at the earliest.
In a letter to the authorities, Gitanjali J Angmo raised concerns over the transparency of his treatment and requested permission to transfer him to a healthcare facility selected by the family.
Delhi Police shifted Wangchuk from the protest site on Saturday morning amid protests by CJP members and supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar.
The CJP has been staging a demonstration since 6 June, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
