Prajwal leaves top IIM collages to join IMA
Prajwal’s father, Lance Naik Krushnaji Samrit, died in the Kargil War in 1999, exactly 45 days before he was born. The Pulgaon-based Kargil martyr wanted Prajwal, who was 2.5 years old at the time, to be commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army.
In the first week of June, Prajwal is scheduled to enroll as a gentleman cadet at the esteemed Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. After his older brother Kunal decided to pursue an engineering degree, Prajwal (age 23) decided to accomplish their father’s goal, which finally became the desire of the entire family.

Prajwal, however, found it difficult as he had to go through nine Service Selection Board (SSB) interviews. “This was going to be my last try, so I had to make a solid backup plan. This month, I received offers from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Kozhikode and Indore after excelling on the common entrance test (CAT).

The mother of Prajwal, Savita (52), expressed her determination for one of her boys to achieve his dream despite losing her spouse in the Kargil conflict. “My husband hoped that my older son would join the Army as an officer. We hoped Prajwal could do it after Kunal was unable to. I’m really proud of myself,” she remarked.
Savita is employed by the Army Hospital in Pulgaon as a data entry operator. In 1991, she married Krushnaji. Before Krushnaji left for Kargil, the couple resided in Trivandrum, Belgaum, and Kolkata in accordance with his deployments. Savita remained in Pulgaon, close to her parent’s house, because Krushnaji’s parents had passed away.

We don’t know the precise date, but we remember him on July 30 every year, according to Prajwal. Prajwal dropped out of school in 2018 to focus on getting ready for the NDA entrance exam, and he passed the initial SSB. He said, “I was advised but didn’t get the medical test.

He relocated to Pune in the same year and enrolled at Fergusson College for a BSc. I passed seven further SSB interviews. Every time, I passed the screening but exited through the conference. The explanation was left out,” he remarked.
After his eighth failed try, Prajwal was about to give up until his neighbor, Nitin Kothe, persuaded him to take advantage of his last chance.
Many individuals had also forewarned him about the dangers of living in the Army. After 8 SSBs, he was on the verge of giving up. He has always gotten perfect scores on his exams. Kothe, a teacher at the Indian Military School in Pulgaon, said that he accomplished everything on his own.
Prajwal claimed that he has no regrets about choosing the IMA over the top two IIMs.
