It is the 76th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi today. The nation is commemorating this freedom fighter while posting stories and quotes about him on their social media accounts. The same was done by an X (formerly known as twitter) account that goes by the name @modiarchive. The post shared by the account showed page of personal diary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

President Drupadi Murmu and PM Modi paid homage to Gandhi Ji

On the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s death, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented flowers to the national hero at Rajghat in this city. Gandhi’s tomb was graced by flower tributes from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. There was also a two-minute moment of silence in honor of the Father of the Nation.

In a post on X, Modi said, “I pay homage to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. I also pay homage to all those who have been martyred for our nation. Their sacrifices inspire us to serve the people and fulfil their vision for our nation.”

Every year on January 30, India celebrates Martyrs’ Day to remember Mahatma Gandhi and to recognize his role in bringing about the nation’s freedom. Months after India gained independence, on January 30, 1948, Nathuram Godse killed Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Smriti in Birla’s home.
