SMS Medical College and Hospital in Jaipur has achieved a significant milestone in Rajasthan’s public healthcare sector by successfully conducting 11 joint replacement surgeries in a single day during one operating session.
The Orthopaedics Department (Unit-2) completed eight Total Knee Replacement (TKR) procedures and three Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgeries.
Hospital authorities confirmed that all operations were successful and patients continue to recover in stable and satisfactory post-operative condition.
The hospital provided every procedure free of charge under the Chief Minister Ayushman Arogya Yojana.
The initiative ensured that patients received advanced orthopaedic treatment irrespective of their financial circumstances.
To improve long-term outcomes and surgical success rates, the medical team used premium-quality implants in all cases.
The accomplishment reflects the increasing capability of government healthcare institutions to deliver sophisticated surgical care using modern techniques and specialised expertise.
Dr Pankaj Jain, Senior Professor and Head of Orthopaedics Unit-2, led the surgical effort.
The operating team included Dr Rajkumar Harshwal, Dr Amit Jain, Dr Heera Lal Dhawan, Dr Mukesh Aswal and Dr Brijesh Sankhla. Resident doctors, nursing personnel and operating theatre staff also contributed significantly to the achievement.
The Department of Anesthesiology played a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of the procedures.
Senior faculty member Dr Shrifal Meena led the anaesthesia team with support from Dr Mamta Khandelwal, Dr BC Jain and other specialists.
Medical experts described the achievement as evidence of SMS Medical College’s advanced infrastructure, collaborative approach and commitment to quality healthcare.
