The Prime Ministers’ Museum & Library (PMML) has reconstituted its society and executive council. Former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Nripendra Mishra, will serve another five years as chairperson.
The PMML society now includes former Union Minister Smriti Irani, ex-NITI Aayog Vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar, retired General Syed Ata Hasnain, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and Vasudev Kamath from Sanskar Bharati. These new members bring diverse skills and perspectives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues as president, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as vice-president. The executive council has grown from 29 to 34 members. The Ministry of Culture issued the reconstitution order. The new society will serve for five years unless further changes occur.
Prominent Experts Join The Institution
Some prominent members, such as former Union Minister Anurag Thakur and UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, are not part of the new council. Others excluded include IGNCA President Ram Bahadur Rai and journalist Rajat Sharma.
The reconstituted society features Sanjeev Sanyal from the Economic Advisory Council and educationist Chamu Krishna Shastry, a contributor to the National Education Policy. Archaeologists KK Mohammad and BR Mani have also joined, adding historical expertise.
Rizwan Kadri, involved in the Nehru papers debate, retains his position. The changes come after the 2023 renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library to PMML and the 2022 opening of the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.
This reconstitution aims to make the PMML a dynamic hub for preserving India’s political history and leadership legacy.
