Union Minister Smriti Irani criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s proposed ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ as a deceptive act, labeling it a facade by individuals known for injustice to portray themselves as champions of justice.
Irani, who serves as the Union Women and Child Development Minister and had previously defeated Gandhi in the Amethi constituency during the last Parliamentary election, made these remarks when asked about Gandhi’s upcoming yatra at an event.
“The ones with a track record of injustice are now masquerading in the name of justice,” Irani commented, referring to Gandhi’s yatra planned from Manipur to Mumbai starting on January 14. This 67-day journey aims to cover 6,200 km, passing through 85 districts across 14 states, as part of the Congress’s preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Before this, Gandhi had undertaken the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
During her two-day visit to her parliamentary constituency, Amethi, Irani highlighted the BJP government’s initiatives, particularly the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides financial aid of up to Rs 5 lakh to around 10 crore underprivileged families annually. She emphasized that this scheme has been a boon for the impoverished, offering crucial support for their medical needs.
Furthermore, Irani announced plans to organize camps for the disabled in all Nyaya Panchayats of the Amethi region starting from the following week, after discussing with the Chief Medical Officer of Amethi during her visit to the Social Empowerment Camp at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Gauriganj.
