In early hours on Monday, Baba Siddheshwar Nath Temple stampede killed at least 7 and left several injured. The Siddheshwar Nath Temple is situated at Vanavar hills in Jehanabad district of Bihar.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday aound 12 -1:00 am. The deadly event occurred when kanwariyas were climbing Barabar hills to offer puja at the temple in Makhdumpur area of Jehanabad.
However, locals, talking to media about the escalation of event, blamed the poor management of crowd and ‘Lathicharge’ for the incident.

The Jehanabad District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey confirmed that at least seven devotes lost their lives and 10 of them sustained injuries in a stampede which happened on Monday morning at Baba Siddhnath Temple. “The situation is under control now and the district administration officials have reached the place”, she added.
The Siddheshwar Nath Temple Stampede took place on the fourth Sunday of holy month, Sawana, a day that usually experience rush of lord Shiva devotees at temples.
The famous Barabar caves are in the hilly area of Makhdumpur, some 25 kms south of Jehanabad district headquarters.
Notably, the incident of stampede in religious gathering has took place earlier as well. In the early of July, this year, a stampede in a religious congregation dedicated to Baba Narayan Hari in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh had killed over 100.
