Torrential rains in Rajasthan have tragically claimed the lives of at least 20 individuals across the state. The relentless downpours have caused severe flooding and significant disruptions, leading to a grim situation.
On Sunday, heavy rainfall in key districts such as Jaipur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, and Dausa resulted in waterlogged streets and widespread damage.
In addition, the Meteorological Department issued an alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts, warning of continuing severe weather conditions over the next 24 hours. This alert underscores the ongoing threat posed by the unrelenting rains.

The severe weather conditions have led to several tragic incidents. In Jaipur, five young men drowned in the overflowing Kanota Dam. Despite an extensive search operation, rescue teams had not recovered the bodies by late Sunday night. Similarly, seven boys lost their lives when they drowned in the Banganga river near Srinagar village in Bharatpur district.
Other fatalities include Sitaram (21) and Deshraj, they swept away along with their motorcycle by the Mashi river in Phagi, Jaipur Rural. Banwari (25) died after falling into a drain in Madhorajpura, while Saddam (32) succumbed to injuries after falling into an anicut in Dudu.
In Beawar, Ashok Kumar (23) perished after slipping into a pond. Additionally, Bablu (16) from Pakhariyawas drowned while bathing in a pond. In Kekri, Gulgaon was swept away by the floodwaters. In Karauli, a man and his son died when the beams of their house collapsed, and a 12-year-old girl was swept away in Barapura village. Vikas Sharma, a nursing student from Dausa, also drowned in the Kadelia waterfall in Banswara.
Chief Minister convened emergency meeting following the Torrential rains in Rajasthan
In response to the disaster, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma convened an emergency meeting in Jaipur on Sunday to review the state’s disaster management efforts. He posted a message on social media platform X, stating, “Today, I held a meeting of officials in the Chief Minister’s office regarding the heavy rains in the state and issued necessary instructions to enhance all disaster management arrangements immediately.”
Sharma further urged residents to stay away from water bodies and waterlogged areas, avoid electric poles and wires during the rain, and refrain from using basements in buildings.
