Shivraj Singh Chouhan Distributes PMAY-G Sanction Letters In Kannod; Highlights Rural Development Initiatives

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Kannod in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, on April 11, where he distributed approval letters to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G).

Addressing a large gathering, he reiterated the central government’s commitment to improving rural lives and providing every family with a pucca house.

Chouhan emphasized that more than 14 lakh rural families in Madhya Pradesh have already received housing assistance from the Center.

In Khategaon, the Ministry of Rural Development approved over 10,000 houses for the underprivileged.

Ongoing surveys for new houses continue, including provisions for self-surveys, while rules have been simplified to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out.

Development Projects & Inaugurations

During his visit, Chouhan laid foundation stones and inaugurated several development works in Kannod.

These initiatives reflect the Center’s focus on strengthening rural infrastructure and bringing facilities closer to villages.

Chouhan also addressed the challenges faced by farmers.

“To ensure that farmers do not bear the burden of transport costs, we’ve devised new schemes,” he said.

He introduced plans for assessing crops via remote sensing technology to eliminate discrepancies and fraud in crop insurance claims and compensation.

Commitment To Service, Not Power

Highlighting his approach to politics, Chouhan declared, “I did not become a minister to sit in Delhi. Serving the poor is my true worship.”

He stressed that the goal is not just development but transforming people’s lives.

“Our life’s purpose is to change others’ lives,” he added.

He praised the impact of self-help groups (SHGs) and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in making the women of these groups financially independent.

“Under PM Modi’s vision, our SHG ‘Didis’ are becoming lakhpatis,” he said.

Chouhan concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a proud, strong, and prosperous India under PM Modi’s leadership.

“We are determined to make villages poverty-free,” he said, urging everyone to contribute towards creating self-employment opportunities in rural areas.

The event in Kannod reflected not just the distribution of government benefits but also a renewed push for rural transformation rooted in accountability, transparency, and empowerment.
