Shivraj Chouhan Backs PM Modi’s Call To Promote India-Made Goods

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to buy Made in India products. He said this move would further strengthen India’s fast-growing economy.

On Saturday, during the release of the 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi in Varanasi, the Prime Minister had urged citizens to prioritise indigenous goods.

Reiterating this message, Chouhan said, “We must live for our country. Living for the nation is what the Hon’ble Prime Minister taught us yesterday.”

He called upon citizens to purchase goods made in their village, city, district, state, or anywhere in the country.

Chouhan pointed out that India is now the fourth-largest economy in the world and is soon set to become the third.

“This nation of 1.44 billion is a massive market. If we resolve to use only Made in India products, the incomes of our farmers, small producers, self-help groups, and artisans will rise,” he said.

He stressed that local consumption directly supports Indian families.

“Why should our money go abroad? Let it provide livelihoods to our own children,” he added.

He concluded with, “I will live for my country—and so should you. Buy only products that are ‘Made in India’.”

The Prime Minister has earlier promoted the idea of being ‘vocal for local’. He said that buying local products helps uplift India’s artisans and small businesses.

Modi also assured farmers that the government would not sign any trade agreement that harmed the interests of India’s farmers, youth, or small enterprises.
