Himanta Biswa Sarma's Sarcastic Remark On Pawar
Sharad Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief, recently faced a political controversy over his comments criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting Israel during their conflict with the terrorist organization Hamas. His remarks were met with contrasting reactions from other political figures.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to Pawar’s comments with a statement that may be considered a sarcastic remark, saying that it seemed like Sharad Pawar might send his daughter, Supriya Sule, to Gaza to fight for Hamas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other hand, expressed solidarity with Israel over the rocket strikes launched by Hamas, stating that India’s thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his dismay at Sharad Pawar’s comments, emphasizing the need to condemn terrorism worldwide. He highlighted that Pawar had held prominent positions in the government during critical security incidents and called for a more serious approach to issues related to terror.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reiterated that India has consistently opposed terrorism in any form and supported Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks, emphasizing the importance of a unified stance against terrorism.
The controversy arose from the differing views on India’s stance in the Israel-Hamas conflict, with some leaders, like Sharad Pawar, expressing criticism while others, including the Prime Minister and other politicians, expressed solidarity with Israel.
