Sharad Pawar Claims Mayawati Is Engaged In Talks with BJP

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), asserted on Wednesday that Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), is engaged in discussions with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), asserted on Wednesday that Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), is engaged in discussions with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking at a press conference alongside other Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, Pawar underscored the absence of “clarity from Mayawati’s side.”

Pawar remarked, “Mayawati has maintained an ongoing line of communication with the BJP. It’s imperative that she brings forth clarity on this matter. Only then can a certain level of understanding be reached.”

This statement comes on the eve of the scheduled meeting of the INDIA bloc, where opposition leaders are anticipated to map out a collective campaign strategy to challenge the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The two-day meeting, commencing on Thursday, is poised to delve into strategic discussions.

Pawar also addressed the forthcoming third gathering of the INDIA bloc, revealing that 63 representatives from 28 distinct political parties will participate in the INDIA alliance assembly scheduled for August 31 and September 1.

Meanwhile, Mayawati took to social media to offer clarification. She stated that while numerous parties display eagerness to forge an alliance with the BSP, her party has no intention of aligning with either the BJP-led NDA or the opposition’s INDIA alliance. She articulated these views in a series of posts on the microblogging platform Twitter (now known as X) on Wednesday.
