Addressing a gathering of traders at Halwasia Market in Hazratganj, Lucknow, Rajya Sabha MP and former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma stated that self-reliance is the key to fulfilling the resolve of a developed India.
He stressed that traders are the backbone of the national economy and that today’s India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has the capacity to challenge even global superpowers.
Dr Sharma noted that the simplification of GST rates has accelerated the Swadeshi campaign, which he described as the foundation of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He further added that the slogan ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi’ reflects the collective vision of building a self-reliant nation.
Highlighting the significance of the recent GST rate cuts, Dr Sharma said that the move has effectively launched a ‘savings festival’ for the common people.
With reduced prices on essential goods, both traders and consumers are benefiting.
“Lower GST means increased sales for traders, while consumers can purchase items at more affordable prices during the festive season,” he remarked.
According to him, this transformation will encourage the use of Swadeshi products, as traders promote indigenous goods and households shift towards buying locally made items.
The initiative, he explained, is not just an economic reform but also a cultural and patriotic step towards empowering India’s self-reliant journey.
Dr Sharma reiterated that the new India is no longer weak but powerful—an India that manufactures missiles, builds Tejas fighter aircraft, and prepares to run bullet trains.
He underlined that Prime Minister Modi’s leadership has turned challenges into opportunities, setting a clear goal of ensuring that most goods are produced and consumed within the country.
“Today’s India neither fears nor intimidates; it is confident, innovative, and resilient,” he asserted.
Urging traders to pass on the benefits of GST reforms to the people, Dr Sharma explained that Next Gen GST reforms will energise the Indian economy, empower farmers and industries, and bring the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat closer to reality.
During the event, traders such as Sanjay Gupta and other leaders expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi, acknowledging the positive impact of the reforms.
The occasion also witnessed a symbolic march through Hazratganj, where Dr Sharma interacted with traders, honoured them with flowers, and shared details of the reduced GST rates.
Dr Sharma concluded that the Swadeshi movement is integral to India’s economic rise.
With GST simplification, local industries and small traders will find new strength, while consumers will benefit from affordable products.
“This is not merely a tax reform—it is a movement towards a stronger, self-reliant India,” he said.
