The Delhi government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Satya Niketan building collapse that killed five people and injured 11 others on Sunday, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directing officials to establish responsibility for the tragedy.
CM Gupta inspected the site and reviewed the rescue effort before ordering a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the collapse. She further instructed police to register a case against the building owner and said those found responsible would face stringent action.
Currently at the incident site in Satya Niketan, RK Puram, along with all concerned authorities, closely monitoring the rescue operation.

Rescue teams worked through the debris after the building came down at around 01:30 PM.
Delhi Police, the National Disaster Response Force, Delhi Fire Service and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority used gas cutters and JCB machines to reach people trapped inside.
Building Details
The five-storey structure had a basement and stood around 40-50 years old. It operated as a boys’ paying guest accommodation with space for roughly 40 people, including several students from Delhi University’s South Campus.
Police said repair work was taking place in the basement when the structure collapsed.
Officials are, however, examining whether heavy rainfall had any role in weakening the building.
The incident has now triggered a formal investigation into the condition of the premises and the work being carried out before the collapse.
The JPN Apex Trauma Centre at AIIMS received 10 patients following the collapse. Four had died before reaching the hospital, while doctors later reported the death of another critically injured patient.
CM Rekha Gupta visited AIIMS and met those undergoing treatment, taking an update on their condition and medical care. She said the inquiry would determine accountability and reiterated that those responsible would face action under the law.

Police have registered the FIR at South Campus police station against the alleged owner, Hariram and others, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel confirmed.
